On 24th May 2024 Royal Assent was granted to The Victims and Prisoners Act. The Act placed Operation Encompass into Law. This places a statutory obligation on police forces to share Operation Encompass notifications with Education Establishments.

Operation Encompass provides FREE online National Key Adult training which is hosted by Virtual College.

The free training is available to all staff in schools and all education settings including early years’ settings and Health Visitors. The training updates staff members' knowledge of domestic abuse, children as victims of domestic abuse, how Operation Encompass works in principle and how staff can support children experiencing domestic abuse. There is also a module about children with other vulnerabilities and children who are Missing from Home or Care. 

This Key Adult training will also assist you in developing the skills and knowledge to fully embed Operation Encompass in your school or education setting.

Due to the different delivery methods of Operation Encompass Notifications in police forces, the Key Adult Training mentions both the delivery by telephone call and secure electronic notifications. 

ALL DSLs and their deputies should undertake this online training and police forces will not share information with the DSL until the training has been completed.

ALL school staff are invited to complete the Key Adult training as part of their personal professional development

Safeguarding Officer’s (SO, DSL or deputy). On completion of the Key Adult training, please download your certificate and contact info@operationencompass.org with the details of your school and the police force that your school is in. Operation Encompass will then forward your details to your local force who will ensure that you are then part of Operation Encompass and have notifications shared with you.

• School/Organisation Name. Please include school/organisation postcode.

Finally, please ensure that you select the Group titled Key Adult Briefing.

Once you’ve completed the registration form it will say ‘registration successful’ and your request will be sent to an administrator to approve.

A welcome email will be sent from donotreply@vc-enable.co.uk with a temporary password to login in with. Please note, the welcome email will direct you to update your password to something new.

Once logged in you will be able to access the content via the learning tile under ‘Active Learning’.
